Inside Hooking Block

The video shows how to execute this block.

The idea is to use the arms to block.

Both the shoulders and the torso remain completely still.

More,  the core must be held firm while blocking.

Rising Block

This is a staple blocking drill that covers the upper head against punches.

Notice that the torso remains completely still.

So too do the shoulders.

Otherwise the block is too slow.

The application of this dill is a separate matter…

The 7th Grip on the Cane: Block and Counter

Today I am holding the cane with one hand in the middle.

I use my free hand to block punches to my head or torso.

I pause slightly.

Then I counter thrust.

Inside Block then Counterpunch

Almost the same as yesterday’s drill/.

I start in the same place and I guard my face.

I start with my Lead fist across my body (as shown).

My Rear Fist is the same as last night.

This creates an ‘L’ shape that I can use to draw my attackers punch.

I block across with my lead arm as shown.

There is a slight pause before I counter with my rear fist.

Outside Block and Counter (with a twist)

I have done this before.

Lead arm blocks with an Outside block.

There is a slight pause.

I use my rear arm to counter punch.

However…

Today, I start with both fist head high (about 5 inches away from the head.

As I block with my lead arm; I drop my rear fist to my hip.

There is a slight pause in case another block is needed.

Then I punch with my rear fist.

As I punch, I pull my lead arm back to its original position at head height.

All the way out then all the way back to the hip.

Only at this time do I raise my rear position to its original p[lace.

Defense Against a Slide in Side Kick to the Body

The first video shows how it looks with two men and no contact.
https://youtu.be/uTY_oHUoILA
The defender simply withdraws his lead leg out of range.

Then he hooks the attackers heel with his rear hand.

At this point he steps forward and counter-kicks.

The second video shows what the counter would do if it actually landed.
