Outside Block with Cane and Follow-ups

http://youtu.be/Q7NiKL55E7s
I stand at punching distance in a Forward Bow with my hands as shown.

I block a punch to my head with the Cane using an Outside Block.

Then I use the same hand to counter (also the same portion of the cane I used for blocking).

I follow up a flurry of punches and cane strikes (as shown).

Inside Hooking Block with the Cane and Follow-ups

 http://youtu.be/VgIo8z_Kw0M
This time I use the cane in the middle grip by performing an Inside Hooking Block against a punch to the face.

I continue the arc of the block and convert it into a forehand swing to the side of the attacker’s head.

At this point I punch with the other hand.

Then I alternate between punches and forehand cane swings.

After that I withdraw to a safe distance.

Simultaneous Angled Block with Forehand Ridgehand Swing and Follow-ups

http://youtu.be/UjGS5YgfOf8
I block across my body as I lift and drive my rear hand over and around in a Forehand Ridgehand Swing.

At this point, as I have shown in my other vids this week, I either step as I swing or stay still and counter.

Simultaneous Crossdownward Palm Block with Hammerfist Counter and Follow-ups

 http://youtu.be/ueAzmzYllwU
I use my lead hand to block an incoming punch to the body. At the same time I counter with a horizontal hammerfist to the head.

At this point, if my attacker stays put, I stay put and follow up.

If he moves back I stay on him by either leaning forward (in preparation for a follow up kick with my rear leg or I shuffle forward and keep balanced.

Simultaneous Inside Hooking Block with Counter Hammerfist and Follow-ups

http://youtu.be/Q0dl2DNsxX4
This is similar to the drill I did yesterday.

The attacker strikes or grabs to my chest.

I execute an inside hooking block with my lead arm while striking with a hammerfist with my rear arm.

If he stays after my initial counter, I stay still while following up.

If the attacker withdraws after the initial punch, I may have to advance upon him to land my follow up punches thus preventing him from regrouping to mount a successful follow up attack.

Simultaneous Rising Block with Counter Punch and Follow-ups

http://youtu.be/KadB1y12c-8
If the attacker stays put, my follow up punches will land without me having to move.

If the attacker withdraws after the initial punch, I may have to advance upon him to land my follow up punches thus preventing him from regrouping to mount a successful follow up attack.

The video show me defending while stationary as well as following up while advancing.

Shift Away Rear Arm Mantis Block then Counter Kick

http://youtu.be/TxRrjgtDkDQ
The main idea is that the defender withdraws enough to make the attacker’s kick just miss.

Now as the attacker’s leg is fully straightens, the defender redirects it (slightly) to the side by guiding the back of the kicking leg.

The attacker withdraws.

The defender follows up and counters with a kick of his own.

 http://youtu.be/hWf4EMhAVaI

As the attacker withdraws, the defender follows up and counter kicks.

http://youtu.be/0JaxLBWWD3I
The attacker drives a roundhouse kick with his back leg into the defender’s closed side kidney.

The attacker drops his leg down leaving both in ‘poor position play’.

As the attacker draws back, the defender drives his own rear leg forward with a front kick.

Kneeling Lead Downward Block and Slide in Counter Kick

http://youtu.be/cNtd_8VhXq0
Again I am facing my opponent in ‘poor position play’; left versus right or right versus left.

He slides in and delivers an offset kick to the outside of my thigh.

I kneel down and drive my forearm into his incoming leg.

The arm and the weight of my body combine to form a powerful defense.

I follow up with my own slide in counter kick.

Shift Away Descending Palm Heel Hammer Block and Shift Forward Counter Kick

http://youtu.be/yzOBS2ApU0U
My attacker slides in and executes a Front Thrust Kick to my lower stomach with the ball of his foot.

I shift back to a forward facing Cat from a Forward Bow as I drive the heel of my palm down into the top of his incoming kick to my stomach.

Again, as my attacker withdraws back in preparation to attack again, I follow up by stepping forward and driving with my rear leg with a front kick.

The attacker drives his rear leg up and into my groin.

I kneel straight down from a Forward Bow as I drive the heel of my lead palm into the incoming kick to my groin.

As my attacker withdraws back in preparation to attack again, I follow up with a shift forward  kick of my own.

Shift Away Lead Mantis Hook Block and Slide in Counter Kick

http://youtu.be/KjrjNXvxp4g
We are both standing in ‘Good Position Play’; that is, left against left or right against right.

My attacker slides in from a Leading Horse Stance and executes a Back Thrust Kick to my lower stomach with the heel of his foot.

I shift back to a Front Cat from a Forward Bow as I use the heel of my lead palm to guide the back of his incoming kick to my stomach. I merely redirect his attack slightly to the closed side.

Again, as my attacker withdraws back in preparation to attack again, I follow up with a slide in kick.

Simultaneous Block with Forehand Hammerfist

http://youtu.be/eHNncd4PfGA
Although similar in many ways to the techniques done during the last two days; there is one fundamental difference with this series.

I wind up my counter ahead of time. My rear fist is close to my rear ear.

This is a powerful series of movements but they are slower than others and must be placed with perfect timing…Or they will be blocked and countered.

Simultaneous Block with Backhand Hammerfist

http://youtu.be/y21J2FVuLQI
This is similar to yesterday’s techniques.

The main difference is that I use a backhand hammerfist to counter, instead of a Forefist thrust.

Because of this difference, more movement is involved and this makes these techniques more difficult to land than a Forefist thrust.

However, if they do land, it will be with greater authority and surprise leaving the recipient more vulnerable to follow ups.

Simultaneous Block with Counter Punch

http://youtu.be/Kp2GvFV5liU
I block with my lead arm while counter punching with my rear arm.

The technique looks simple enough but only hours of relentless training will build the kind of reflex that will hold up under pressure.

Block, Check, Counter

http://youtu.be/4AbC-71f7Ck
Just like it sounds, it is used against a heavy slow brawler that likes to lean in with his blows.

But it is a difficult technique to make work properly and requires a lot of practice or it will fail.
